The Higher Education Loans Board on 23rd August 2017, received a KES 4M Dell Server from USAID Funded HRH-Kenya Mechanism (Human Resource For Health Kenya). The server will go along way towards optimizing the day to day operations of the Afya Elimu Fund that is managed by the HELB. The server was received by HELB CEO, Mr. Charles Ringera and presented by Dr. Wasunna Owino, PhD., the Country Director/Chief of Party HRH – Kenya. Also present were Dr. Janet Muriuki, the Deputy Chief of Party, HRH-Kenya Mechanism as well as Mr. Peter Milo Team Lead, Health Workforce Training-Kenya, HRH-Kenya Mechanism. HRH-Kenya Mechanism is an Intra-Health Project funded by USAID.
Afya Elimu is in its fourth year and is a KES 800M fund dedicated to health workers in granting them Loans and Scholarships. Since inception, the fund has supported the training of over 12,000 health care workers in mid level medical training institutions such as KMTC and other faith based MTCs.
